Ekaterina Pomerantseva
Associate Professor of Materials Science and Engineering

Ekaterina Pomerantseva started her appointment as an Assistant Professor at Drexel University in 2013 and was named as Anne Stevens Assistant Professor of Materials Science and Engineering in 2015. Prior to joining Drexel she held postdoctoral appointments in the Institute for Systems Research at the University of Maryland College Park (2010 – 2013) and the Department of Chemistry at the University of Waterloo (2009 – 2010). She has co-authored over 45 journal papers. In 2016, she received the International Association of Advanced Materials (IAAM) Energy Technologies Award, which is presented for notable and outstanding research in the field of smart energy technologies. Her research interests lie in the development and characterization of novel nanostructured materials for electrochemical systems, such as energy storage and water treatment devices, with the goal to better understand intercalation-based processes at nanoscale.

Ryan Andris
PhD Student

Ryan previously obtained is master’s degree in petroleum engineering from the University of Texas and his bachelor’s from the University of Pittsburgh. Previous research experience includes modeling methane hydrate growth mechanisms in shallow oceanic basins and using sediment cores to reconstruct climate patterns from the late Quaternary Period. He is currently working to synthesize new cathode materials to serve in next generation lithium-ion and beyond lithium-ion batteries. In his free time, Ryan like to ski when there’s snow and cycle when there’s not.
